CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
We invite you to actively contribute to the symposium by submitting an abstract for consideration and inclusion in the program of the Eleventh International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM XI)

TOPICS
When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to carefully select the best matching topic, as this choice will determine under which area the abstract will be reviewed and scored. Please submit your abstract within one of the following topics:
Fundamental and practical implementation aspects of regulations applicable to NORM in line with the international safety standards: Strategies to support the circular economy.
Optimization of radiation protection in different situations involving exposure to NORM: Embedding the UN SDGs.
Application of the graded approach to the regulation of NORM: Challenges and case studies.
Sustainable management of NORM: Valorisation of NORM tailings and residues. Fostering emerging markets of secondary raw materials.
Environmental aspects of NORM: Discharges and management of residues.
NORM sampling and radiological characterization: Metrology and quality assurance.
Occupational Radiation Protection in NORM involving industries, including exposure to radon and thoron.
Assessment of doses to people and non-human species.
Decommissioning and remediation of legacy sites: Lessons learned and innovative approaches.
Radiation protection aspects of NORM transport, trade and commerce.
Stakeholder engagement and community development projects.
Strategies for capacity building and knowledge management.
Your abstracts should clearly summarise the proposed content of the full paper, including any major scientific findings or conclusions. The acceptance of abstracts will be based on their scientific and technical quality and clarity of the information provided.
The presenting author will be required to register online as participant, where the date that your abstract was received determines the registration fee.
REFRESHER COURSE
ACCEPTANCE AND PRESENTATION OPPORTUNITIES
All abstracts received by the indicated deadline will be evaluated by the Program Planning Committee. Acceptance, together with technical details for presentation (oral or poster presentation), will be notified to the submitting author on 15 JULY 2025.
Accepted abstracts will be allocated to one of the presentation opportunities below:
- Oral presentations: 10-minute oral presentation in live session
- Poster presentation: 4-minute narrated presentation
Your poster or presentation and full paper will be made available through the NORM XI website after the symposium and in the NORM XI Symposium Proceedings which will be published by the IAEA.
